STOP PRESS:DEADLINE EXTENDED TO START OF RACE 5 FOR ON COURSE ENTRANTS AT GREYVILLE'S FRIDAY NIGHT RACEMEETING. LOOK OUT FOR RACING SOUTH AFRICA STAFF SITUATED IN THE DURBAN VIEW ROOM AND OUTSIDE THE SHOP. The Charity Turf Challenge is an exciting competition that offers fans of the sport of horseracing a unique opportunity to select a team of 10 horses to follow throughout the 2009 KZN Champion’s Season. Racing South Africa, the competition host, will publish entry forms with a list of 100 horses. The list includes South Africa’s top horses based on current merit ratings and the leading two-year-olds based on performance at the time of launching the competition. Once published the list of 100 horses is considered to be final. The aim of the Charity Turf Challenge is to select a team of horses you feel are most likely to succeed in races run during the period of the KZN Champions Season. Whilst the emphasis remains on the feature races (Grade 1, 2, 3 & Listed), this year all winners will be eligible to earn points (see below for new point scoring system). The 2009 Charity Turf Challenge starts on Friday 8 May 2009 featuring the Gr.2 Drill Hall Stakes. The entrant with the most points at the conclusion of the competition on Saturday, 1 August (Canon Gold Cup day) will win a guaranteed prize worth R100 000! However, if the number of entries received exceeds that forecasted by Racing South Africa, the prize fund will grow – the more entries received, the bigger the pot! An exciting new addition to this year’s Challenge is a stand alone prize of R10 000 for the entrant with the most points earned on Vodacom Durban July day! Online entries are available this year and multiple entries are welcomed as this gives you more than one combination to run for you during the season. Good luck! The African Horse Sickness Trust is this season’s Charity Turf Challenge beneficiary. |
